We finally went hiking! Since we are trying to eat better and work out more, this seemed like a great idea, and it was! We used a website made by a former co-worker and his wife called Virginia Trail Guide. It the most wonderful resource for hiking.
We found a short hike on Bearfence Mountain on Skyline Drive that was about 1.2 miles, but we may have shortened it to 1 mile due to the rock scramble being so strenuous. We were able to get amazing views during the rock scramble that were definitely worth the work! But it was a lot more intense than either of us expected.
It wasn’t crowded at all. We started the hike at 9:30am and only saw 1 AT hiker and 1 other couple when we went to the viewpoint (which was less spectacular than the view from the rock scramble, but still awesome). This was the perfect workout and we can’t wait to do more trails that are longer. We went ahead and bought a year pass to the Shenandoah National Park so we can do this whenever we want! Hopefully this will be the first of many posts with amazing views!
(and yes, we did climb these rocks!)
